Dear Woodbridge Music Club Members:
I want to thank all those who attended the meeting last Thursday. I think it came out very successfully in launching our new way of organizing our activities for the year. The product of the meeting was a Draft Calendar of Events, which I have attached. I’m still waiting to hear from the Student Recital Committee on any changed dates for the student recitals, but if we follow the schedule from last year the dates reflected should work. Some real good things came out of the Concert Committee, and the ideas are reflected in the attached. The first concert is pianist Julee An. They are looking at putting together a Members' Concert in January, and then possibly featuring a few local musicians in a concert in April, similar to what we did with Rayanne Gonzalez last year. I think this will work out well as we set things in motion for the year.
I have also attached another copy of the Committees and responsibilities, and if you want to get involved in one of these committees, please let me know. There is really no limit to the number of people on each committee, and the idea is to have enough depth on each committee in order to share responsibility for each event.
This calendar is not final yet. I am hoping we can finalize it completely by mid-September and get it on the website. I am also waiting on dates for the Mary Smart Preliminaries, and I highlighted the Virginia Federation of Music Club Convention because it may change to one week later. On the VFMC convention, several things of note - first of all it is being held locally in Woodbridge in 2020. And, this is the 100th anniversary of the Virginia Federation of Music Clubs, which the Woodbridge Music Club has been part of since 1976. Hopefully we will have a firm date on the convention in the next week or so.
I will be sending out a separate email with the WMC Directory to all members who currently have submitted their applications. I am still waiting on a few applications, so if you have not sent yours in yet, please do so soonest so I can add your name and finalize the directory.
